Wealth Over Riches

If you had the choice, would you rather be rich or wealthy? When it comes to money most people desire to be rich, imagining a better lifestyle with finer things. However, you will find that the financially educated work to build wealth, because wealth makes all the difference!

How rich you are is measured in money. Wealth is measured in time.

True wealth is your time and freedom. It is a measure of the amount of time you can maintain your standard of living without having to work.

Time and Freedom

Many people have the notion that being rich is the same thing as having wealth, but it isn’t. The difference is a matter of time. The wealthy don’t worry about money. The rich, on the other hand, are very much concerned about it.

A rich person may live in a very nice home and drive several beautiful cars. Their children may attend the best private schools in the area. However, if their income stream is suddenly cut off, it is only “a matter of time” before things get bad.

Someone who is rich may give the appearance of stability, even when their financial statement says differently.

In many instances, when a person has a high paying job they fall into the trap of overextending themselves financially through purchases. To keep up with the Joneses, their purchases become linked with social status. In other words, they see their success as measured in having nice things. Going into debt to give the appearance of having wealth is a common pitfall. It’s not what you make. It’s what you keep.

The wealthy can maintain their quality of life over an extended period of time without having to worry about money. It comes from a different mindset about money. And it takes financial intelligence.

Some choose to give the appearance of being wealthy. Some choose to pursue real wealth. Why not learn to increase your time and freedom through financial education? That’s what entertaining money is really about.
